Python Script for Icom PCR-1000 Receiver

Work in progress: creating Python code for the Raspberry Pi at Brough Astronomy so that I can add a second radio receiver to provide the much needed audio for a true "multimedia" experience watching meteor showers.

More than just Voice Communications...


In the second part, we explore how APRS can be used to provide Situational Awareness, share this information and create a Common Operating Picture, and how Raynet Groups can develop Community Resilience - Attributes that were identified by Aleksandra Rohde in her paper to the 2012 TAPR and ARRL Data Communications Conference.

APRS Position Reports via a Python Script



Apart from defining the variables for the password and the contents that make up the packet itself, the code snippet above is all that is required to put data onto APRS network via a Python Script - the results can be viewed at http://aprs.fi/?call=G0VRM-10
